Kushami (pronounced Koo-shah-mee) is Futoi's best friend. His name is an interesting story involving the customs of penguins where he and Futoi live. You see, where Kushami is from a penguin is named according to the first thing the mother thinks of when they are born. Right after Kushami was born he sneezed. And so he was named Kushami, which is Japanese for "sneeze".

Kushami loves science. This is why he is best friends with Futoi - he can study things on their adventures. He loves to take pictures so he can explain his research to others when he returns. Kushami fully believes that a picture is worth a thousand words, so is usually a bit shy but always carries his camera.
