HAL
Hal
is a curious but bashful young giraffe who lives in the African Savannah.
Hal
gets his name from the German word "hals" which means
"neck".
Like
all Giraffes, Hal is mute. But that doesn't mean he can't express himself!
Through his facial expressions and body language, Hal shows that he is
very inquisitve and wants to learn. His best friend, a talkative little
red bird named Mundy, is very good at interpreting his expressions to
help him communicate. Mundy is also teaching him how to write by drawing
letters in the sand with his hooves.
In fact, Hal's first book will be about learning to write the alphabet!
